Construction of MH-4 Waste Pipeline on TB Simatupang Road Completed

Jakarta Wastewater Management Company (Paljaya), Tuesday (10/7), completed the construction of the Centralized Domestic Wastewater Management System (SPALD-T) at manhole-4 (MH-4) on Jalan TB Simatupang, precisely in front of Cibis Park, Cilandak Timur, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

Paljaya President Director Untung Suryadi said that the work at the location was completed on time and currently, the road sections are being used smoothly by vehicles.

"We have dismantled the barrier and traffic is flowing smoothly again. Completing work at this point is a crucial step in easing congestion in the TB Simatupang area," he said, Wednesday (10/8).

He added that work on manhole 7 (MH-7), located directly in front of the TB Simatupang gas station, is still underway. The site is targeted for completion by October 25, 2025.

Untung continued the construction of SPALD-T in the TB Simatupang area is to improve domestic wastewater management in South Jakarta.

Buildings along the road produce wastewater from household activities, offices, and public facilities that have the potential to pollute the environment and disrupt the quality of life of the surrounding community.

Untung stated that since April 2025, his team has been building an underground wastewater pipe network so that wastewater from households and office buildings can be channeled to the Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPALD).

"Wastewater can be treated according to standards before being safely returned to the environment," he stated.

This construction, Untung explained, used Micro Tunnel Boring Machine (MTBM) technology, namely an underground drilling method without open excavation which allows the installation of pipes up to a depth of 14 meters.

This technology is considered effective in maintaining road surface stability while avoiding disruption to other utilities in dense infrastructure areas such as TB Simatupang.

"The work does require a great deal of care, but the results will provide significant benefits for Jakarta's future sanitation system," he explained.

Untung emphasized that the TB Simatupang SPALD-T project will continue until June 2026. Paljaya ensures that all work is carried out with attention to safety, smooth traffic flow, and environmental sustainability.
